Happy 39th Birthday, GNU!

Almost missed it in my timezone, but here it goes: Happy Birthday, GNU Project!

On September 27th 1983, Richard Stallman announced his intentions to make a Free Software alternative to Unix, laying out the foundations of the GNU Project. What happened next, as it's said, might be history, but it has changed the way computing was done. It has certainly changed for me, as experimenting with GNU/Linux was crucial for my knowledge today of Free Software, privacy and security in a digital sense - and even landed me my first job ever.

So take some time today to reflect on how Free Software and the GNU project have changed your computing and life habits and how you can help them make an even greater impact tomorrow.

Next year is the big 4-0!
